Where Does It All Go? Our Favorite Cincinnati Donation & Recycling Resources

Decluttering is one of the most rewarding parts of an organizing project, but it's also one of the questions we hear most often:
"What happens to everything we don't want anymore?"
At Simply Organized Interiors, we believe decluttering is about more than creating beautiful, functional spaces. It's about making thoughtful decisions that benefit our clients, our community, and the environment.
Every organizing project begins by identifying what you truly need and love. From there, we carefully sort the remaining items to determine whether they should be donated, recycled, repurposed, or responsibly disposed of. Our goal is simple: keep as much as possible out of the landfill while helping you move forward with less clutter and more peace of mind.
Thoughtful editing is the foundation of every beautifully organized home.
Our Favorite Cincinnati Donation & Recycling Partners
No two organizing projects are alike, which means no two donation plans are either. Over the years, we've built relationships with organizations throughout Greater Cincinnati that help us ensure your unwanted items can make a positive impact long after they leave your home.
Furniture & Household Goods
New Life Furniture Bank
One of our favorite community partners is New Life Furniture Bank, Southwest Ohio's only furniture bank. They provide gently used furniture and household items to families rebuilding their lives after homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, and other difficult circumstances.
Every sofa, dining table, dresser, bed frame, or nightstand donated has the opportunity to become part of someone's fresh start instead of ending up in a landfill.

Large Item Removal
Junk King Cincinnati
Sometimes furniture and household items have simply reached the end of their useful life. When that happens, we frequently coordinate with Junk King Cincinnati for responsible removal.
Their commitment to recycling and recovering materials whenever possible aligns perfectly with our own philosophy of reducing unnecessary landfill waste while making the removal process seamless for our clients.
Clothing, Household Goods & Humanitarian Donations
Matthew 25 Ministries
Matthew 25 Ministries accepts many gently used household items that can directly benefit individuals and families in need around the world. They also accept items many people don't realize can be repurposed, including usable latex paint and various humanitarian supplies.
Hard-to-Recycle Items
Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub
One of Cincinnati's hidden gems, the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub accepts many items that traditional curbside recycling programs cannot.
This includes:
Hard plastics
Small toys
Office supplies
Craft materials
Packaging materials
School supplies
Seasonal decorations
And many other specialty items
Before throwing something away, there's a good chance the Hub has a better solution.
Electronics Recycling
Staples
Electronics often pile up during organizing projects. Old printers, chargers, laptops, keyboards, ink cartridges, batteries, cables, and other technology can frequently be recycled through Staples, helping keep electronic waste out of local landfills.
Public Recycling Drop-Off Locations
City of Cincinnati Recycling Dumpsters
Large organizing projects generate an incredible amount of cardboard from shelving systems, closet installations, storage containers, and furniture deliveries.
Rather than filling dumpsters with recyclable materials, we regularly utilize the City of Cincinnati's public recycling drop-off locations. We've personally used the recycling dumpsters at Ault Park many times, but there are numerous convenient locations throughout the city.
These sites accept items such as:
Cardboard
Mixed paper
Aluminum cans
Plastic bottles
Glass bottles and jars
It's another simple way we reduce waste while keeping projects moving efficiently.
Thoughtful Organizing Goes Beyond Storage
As we organize kitchens, pantries, closets, garages, home offices, storage rooms, and businesses, we also incorporate intentional organizing products designed for long-term success.
Some of our favorite solutions include:
Clear storage bins (Affiliate link)
Drawer organizers (Affiliate link)
Shelf dividers (Affiliate link)
Turntables and lazy Susans (Affiliate link)
Drawer labels and custom labeling systems (Affiliate link)
Matching hangers (Affiliate link)
Rather than filling a space with containers, we design customized systems that are functional, easy to maintain, and tailored to how you actually live.
Why This Matters
Responsible decluttering isn't just good for your home. It's good for our community.
Every donated piece of furniture helps a family furnish a home. Every box of electronics recycled keeps hazardous materials out of landfills. Every load of cardboard recycled reduces unnecessary waste.
We're proud that our organizing process extends beyond creating beautiful spaces. It reflects our commitment to thoughtful design, sustainability, and giving back to the Cincinnati community whenever possible.
If you're ready to declutter your home or office, we'd love to help. Schedule a consultation, explore our maintenance services, or reach out to Simply Organized Interiors to learn how our customized organizing process can transform your space while making a positive impact on our community.
